The Midnight Line Jack Reacher takes an aimless stroll past a pawn shop in a small Midwestern town. In the window he sees a West Point class ring from 2005. It’s tiny. It’s a woman cadet’s graduation present to herself. Why would she give it up? Reacher’s a West Pointer too, and he knows what she went through to get it.

Reacher tracks the ring back to its owner, step by step, down a criminal trail leading west. Like Big Foot come out of the forest, he arrives in the deserted wilds of Wyoming. All he wants is to find the woman. If she’s OK, he’ll walk away. If she’s not … he’ll stop at nothing.

He’s still shaken by the recent horrors of Make Me, and now The Midnight Line sees him set on a raw and elemental quest for simple justice. Best advice: don’t get in his way.

    Lee Child's last few books have been a definite step down from his earlier works. This most recent Jack Reacher outing, The Midnight Line, hopefully marks the start of an upward curve; this book is definitely better than the last few. I will not spoil the plot suffice it to say that you will be entertained. However, the final 50 pages (or so) are not required and you will struggle to finish them off as the plot really has wrapped up before the physical end of the book.

    Enjoyed the book immensely! It's like having a mate to stay for a while. Well, it is over for another year so let's hope he can make it back next year.

    Think my love for Jack No-middle-name Reacher has reached the end if the line! This was the last one I'm reading. Time to find a new author. It's too much like an action movie now...fighting from the start.

    … but you’d be wrong. Don’t plan on doing anything else before you finish this one. It is cinematic and does feel like a screenplay, but that’s not a criticism.

    I couldn't wait to read this book. Now I have. Wish it had been longer. So I was still reading. Get over it... Typical Reacher novel but back in the wide open spaces, which I prefer. Lee Childs' fans will not be disappointed.
